When I was a child I was completely into strategy games. There is a picture of me playing Checkers against my grandfather, taken when I was about 6 years old. I was about to win and you can see the excitement in my face. I still remember this particular game and the feeling I had. I was enthusiastic because I knew my winning was not due to luck but to a game plan; a clear strategy that I had developed.
At university, I took a class called Decision-making, then Game Theory, and eventually decided on Strategic Management as a major. I always liked the creative part of strategy development, the part that asks “what if…” followed by the development of different scenarios. Today, I am asking “what if…” regarding future trends in business, education and new media. My approach is still playful and, if you’re up for it, you can always challenge me to a game of Checkers.
